Pharmacist is an important healthcare worker who actively takes part in all stages from the development and production of medicines to reach to the patient, contributing to patient and patient relatives, health professionals, health system and community health. It is so important that graduate pharmacist should be trained before graduating for effectively fulfill the duties and responsibilities against society in our country as well as in the world.
Depending on the current needs of the profession, it is inevitable that the training should be renewed and changed. Based on the duties and responsibilities of the pharmacist, it is necessary to clearly define the qualifications and with which sufficiencies he/she will apply his/her proficiency after graduation. For this purpose, the "National Pharmacy Core Training Program" (EczÇEP) has been prepared as a comprehensive study conducted by the Faculty of Pharmacy Dean's Council. "EczÇEP2015", is a framework program in which the "minimum" requirements for the implementations of the pharmacy professions are determined in terms of basic knowledge, skills and attitudes, is accepted and send to relevant higher education institutions, by YÖK on December 23, 2015. Based on this core training program; all Pharmacy Faculties in Turkey are training pharmacists with the same basic qualifications even if they apply different systems or programs.
Faculties will prepare an "Extended Training Program (GEP)" in line with their mission and vision, provided that at least 70% of their syllabus consists of the ECZEP. This has led to the necessity of preparing the “Table of Specifications" in which "Competencies, Qualifications, Sub-Qualifications and Learning Objectives" are defined and detailed, in the EczÇEP, which will constitute a large mass in the education programs of the faculties.
For this purpose; Istanbul University, Ankara University and Anadolu University Faculty of Pharmacy, which are running pharmacy education and syllabus for many years successfully, have decided in cooperation to develop and constitute their GEPs and to evaluate their programs suitability to EczÇEP, which may also be a source for other Pharmacy Faculties. The three faculties concurrently received the CEP and GEP Trainings between January and May 2016, and then began working jointly with a protocol on 25 April 2016. In this collaborative work which is carried out under the responsibility of the syllabus committees established by each Faculty’s in their own fields, they prepared the Table of Specifications for 169 Competences specified in EczÇEP-2015.
It is aimed with this work, in which the Table of Specifications is shared, to be a guide to all Pharmacy faculties and contribute to ensuring to steps that are taken to ensure pharmacy education meets the objectives of the training.
